Solution overview

This project envisages the technical improvement of the fishing gear as a fishing tool with the aim of solving some of its shortcomings in order to improve its properties for more selective fishing of target species and to reduce its negative impact on the environment. The project offers fishermen a new technical solution for the automated release of a bait that is placed in the tip so that it actively attracts the target species of fish all the time it is submerged in the sea, and at the same time prevents smaller fish or unwanted species from eating the bait. The solution also makes it possible to use a different design of the buckets with a movable system of the entrance part to ensure that the fish enter more easily, and more difficult to get out of the bucket itself. In this way, the tip has a great influence on the selectivity of the catch and has a positive effect on the reduction of unwanted catches.

Key features

selective fishing; automatization

Integration and adaptability in manufacturing environments

Automatic fishing is a new equipment that does not currently exist on the market, and has the potential to solve many of the shortcomings that current fishing equipment has, especially for fishing. The innovative tip has the possibility of adjustment with regard to its dimensions and the type of lure (depending on the fish). Solution is compatible with common manufacturing technologies and equipment.

Implementation support and training for manufacturers

No training is required

Sustainability, compliance and certifications in the EU

The solution is in accordance with relevant environmental regulations and industry standards in the EU. There are no certificates or accreditations.

Use cases

Example of successful implementation of solution in manufacturing company.

A shellfish grower from Šibenik (trade Travčić) participated in the testing of fishtrap at his shelfish farm during the implementation of the project, since he has big problems with sea bream. Members of the project team, with the support of employees of the Travčić trade, tested the fishtrap over a period of 3 months, where they pointed out certain shortcomings, i.e. the need for improvements in order to increase performance. These improvements are currently being worked on. In conclusion, it was determined that, once the peak is completed, it will be of great help on the shelfish farm.

Case studies or testimonials showcasing the impact of the solution on real-world operations.

As a previous answer. The product is still in the TRL 7 stage

ROI & Costs

Expected return on investment (ROI)

Still not sure as it is in TRL7 stage. Also, it is not fully measurable since it is fishing. If it is used on farms that have a problem with large quantities of sea bream, and if it is used correctly with an appropriate lure - the return on the investment can be already after 2 years.

Cost overview: implementation and ongoing expenses

Approximately 17.000 EUR (Technical equipment, batteries..)
