Description of center’s mission and objectives

AgriFood Croatia is an innovation hub that brings together research, business and public stakeholders in Croatia for the common pursuit of digital transformations in the aquaculture, agriculture and food related sectors. The mission of AgriFood Croatia is to contribute towards achieving the vision outlined in the EU Declaration of ‘A smart and sustainable digital future for European agriculture and rural areas’ and strengthen the national and European technological infrastructure.

Description of center’s facilities and equipment

Digital innovation hub AFC has for the purposes of testing, simulations and demonstrations of innovative solutions at its disposal a shellfish farm at the mouth of the Krka River, i.e. 7 oyster and mussel farms with a total area of ​​approx. 40,000 m2

3 pontoons, two of which are powered by renewable energy sources. Sales pontoon has battery systems suitable for powering various sensors and other measuring equipment for testing purposes. Working pontoon 2 has the working machines necessary for regular work on the farm. The third pontoon (FLUPSY) - Floating upweller system serves as a model of a floating pontoon with a circulation system for pre-growth of shellfish fry. Also, for testing purposes, interested parties can use AFC vessel, as well as the staff (aquaculture technicians and divers).
