Description of center’s mission and objectives

Testing in order to optimize. The Energetikum is designed as a so-called “living lab”, meaning that research is carried out while the building is actually being used in everyday life. The building enables the further development of individual technologies such as solar and photovoltaic systems, heat pump systems, storage technologies etc. as well as cross-system control strategies, taking real user behavior into account. To this end, the Energetikum includes a laboratory for energy storage systems based on hydrogen, a laboratory for the latest building air conditioning systems and a laboratory for management simulations. The Energetikum is therefore of cross-disciplinary interest to scientists and covers the fields of building and energy technology as well as health.
